Strip-journaliste sterft

Na 25 jaar komt er een einde aan de stripreeks rond journaliste Brenda Starr. Het figuur was bedacht door Chicago Tribune columnist Mary Schmich en tekenaar June Brigman. Ze hebben besloten met ingang van het nieuwe jaar hun samenwerking te stoppen. “There’s sadness about stopping, but no regret and no ambivalence,” aldus Schmich. “It came to me really clearly that I was done. … I don’t think the character is dead. But the comic strip in this form is.”
